PHIL FISCHER OFFICIAL BIO
From an early age, Phil Fischer has expressed himself through music. With over 400 lifetime compositions, several international tours, and two albums recorded at Robert Lang Studios, Phil considers himself blessed to have a musical platform for serving God. However, his journey into the music industry was far from optimum.
Born to a 16-year-old girl, Phil grew up under impoverished circumstances in remote villages spread through northern Alaska and Canada’s Yukon territory. Education was poor, jobs and food were lacking and, all in all, life was tough. Without family, Phil moved frequently as a child to various villages in the wilderness, settling with different native families in cabins which were often no larger than 300 square feet.
After quitting school at 14, Phil moved to Bristol Bay, Alaska and became a deck hand on the boat docks. There he’d settle for nine years, before relocating to the northwestern United States. While in his twenties, Phil settled in Portland and then Seattle–– where his music career began to take flight. Opportunities for both songwriting and performing were presented, and Phil Fischer soon became a well-known rocker in the city.
During his days as a rock artist, Phil recorded his debut album, wrote several hit songs for 90’s bands, played large shows, and toured around the world. Though he was finding considerable success, fame and money failed to satisfy and the residue of childhood adversity lingered. Yet, in the fall of 2001, by God’s abundant grace, Phil Fischer surprised everyone from his growing fanbase to the media by committing his life to Jesus Christ.
Phil’s decision to follow Christ has proved to be the best he’s ever made. Marrying the woman who led him to the Lord, Jamael, he now has three children (James, Tristan, and Patricia) and lives happily in the Seattle area. Phil leads worship and serves as the Director of Media and Press Relations at New Hope International Church in Mercer Island.
Phil is now passionate about outreach and missions, recently ministering in India, Pakistan, and throughout the Middle East. His testimony has affected thousands and his music truly bears witness of Christ. The difficulties of Phil’s past of growing up orphaned in the wilderness and experiencing misfortune after misfortune have indeed faded in the light of Jesus Christ.
In late 2009, Phil Fischer’s debut Christian album, “New Believer,” was released. It is scheduled to hit store shelves soon and is available for download here.
