God’s love is a gift. Like a Christmas present sitting under a tree, He waits for us to embrace Him and unwrap His glorious mysteries. God longs for our fellowship. As our Creator, He knows everything about us. On the other hand, we know so little of Him! He desires intimacy and is jealous for us. But every relationship requires effort to keep the connection healthy and strong. We must invest our time if we wish to see growth in our spiritual walk.
“For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.” Luke 12:2 (NKJV)
God reveals Himself in numerous ways, the most obvious being through Scripture.
2 Timothy 3:16 tells us that, “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God.” Hebrews 4:12 says, “The word of God is living and powerful.” Although we serve an unseen God through faith, He has provided His living Word as a tangible means to fully equip us for this life. We must search the Scriptures with a desire to know God, allowing the Holy Spirit to speak truth to our hearts. Seeking God diligently will be rewarded with blessings and answers.
“‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’” Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV)
“I love those who love Me, and those who seek Me diligently will find Me.”
Proverbs 8:17 (NKJV)
God also speaks to us through prayer, a precious gift that brings us into the throne room of God. Here, Jesus intercedes on our behalf both day and night.
In Daniel 2, we read that King Nebuchadnezzar was troubled by a dream and the inability of his “wise men” to interpret it. In a fit of anger, he commanded the death of all the wise men of Babylon. Fearing for his life, Daniel went before the King and asked him for more time, hoping God would provide an interpretation of the mystery. King Nebuchadnezzar granted his request so Daniel returned home asking God for mercy and revelation. He was rewarded with an answer by means of a night vision.
“Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. So Daniel blessed the God of heaven.” Daniel 2:19 (NKJV)
Life circumstances are another way that God reveals Himself to us. The woman caught in adultery (John 8) faced death by stoning. Jesus revealed Himself as a God of love and forgiveness. The man blind from birth received sight in John 9. Jesus revealed Himself as a compassionate healer. God revealed Himself, to the widow of Zarephath, as a miraculous provider. In 1 Kings 17 we find her desperate for food and yet she used the last of her flour and oil to feed the prophet, Elijah.
“And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’”
1 Kings 17:13-14 (NKJV)
God revealed His love for us by sending His son, Jesus to earth. Angels announced his birth to shepherds and revealed He was the promised Savior of the world. A miracle revealed His glory when he changed water into wine at a wedding. Jesus spoke to His disciples revealing His relationship with them was of friendship. There is so much God wants to reveal to us. Take time today to listen for His revelations. You will be blessed!
