You Are Always On His Mind

I always find the love of God amazing and humbling. The Creator of the universe wants to spend time getting to know His creation. That is us!! To put this concept in perspective, imagine you just knit your daughter a sweater or built your neighbor a table. You do not want to have a relationship with that sweater or table, do you? You would not send your favorite pet or child to a horrible death in order to make it an adopted member of your family.

God created us for fellowship. Not only fellowship with other humans, but with Him. He is jealous for us. He wants an intimate relationship with each of His children. We are always on His mind. So many of His thoughts are directed our way that they outnumber the grains of sand. Imagine!

“How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.” Psalm 139:17-18 (NKJV)

How often do you think about God during the day? When you think about Him, is it only to complain and grumble? Is it merely to petition a need? Do you ever just meditate on His love, faithfulness, power, and devotion? When was the last time you praised Him and thanked Him just because He is your God?
We deserve nothing and yet, God gives us everything. What do we give back to Him? What does He want from us? What gift can we lay before a King who has everything? The answer is simple: our love, praise, obedience, and devotion. These things bring joy to our God.

Think of a new and budding relationship in your life. It takes time and effort to build it into a deep and intimate friendship. You need to spend time with the person in order to learn more about them. Sharing difficult and joyful times will deepen the bond and connection.

This is also true with your relationship with God. You must invest your time and energy in this precious relationship if you hope to learn more about Him. He is worth getting to know and He has so much to give back: wisdom, love, provision, protection, hope, encouragement, friendship, peace, patience, and so much more.

If His thoughts for you outnumber the grains of sand, He must therefore long for your companionship and fellowship. He must feel sadness when you are too busy with activities to give Him any notice. When you are sad and lonely, He is waiting for you to call out to Him. When troubles come do you call a friend instead. When you receive joyful news is He the first one you speak to or call? Think about it!

I encourage you to make time in your day to meditate on His love for you. Talk to Him throughout the day as if He were standing right beside you. The fact is He is right beside you, you just can’t see Him. However, you can feel His presence and that will meet all your needs and give you joy.

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NKJV)

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (
